Role-Playing Fundamentals:
Note: This is an exact duplicate of ‘The Game Manual’, by myself. Much of this content is, useful as a role-play starter, as well as with helping a player understand basic rules and courtesies present in most online role-playing games.
In this section will be covered the basic aspects of role-playing, allowing those who are interested in the concept but have never before had the opportunity to fully explore it a fair chance at judging this unique gaming style for themselves.
Firstly, we need to identify precisely what role-playing is. In role-playing, either someone takes a role in a story and attempts to act it out to the best of their abilities, making decisions and executing actions based solely on that given character's beliefs, or a system of oints and/or levels is used to determine a character's skils, traits, characteristics, strength, and many other factors. In this case, the latter is involved.
Basically, role-playing is nothing more than acting, but on a virtual stage.
It is very, very discourteous tojump into someone's story with something random. In many cases, it's impolite to even enter a bit of out of character dialogue into the ongoing story. An example:
---
Billy Bob Joe kicks the bandit squarely in the chest, knocking his assailant back even as he draws his gleaming samurai sword.
ooc: I like sausage lol!
---
As you can see, the bit of information in this post is entirely unnecessary, in fact detracting from what has just been read. Unless the second comment immediately pertains to the ongoing story, it's best to handle such communication in PM's(Personal Messages) and anything else that does not intrude in the ongoing tale.
Courtesy is a major element of role-playing. If you're purposefully rude and attempt to insult a player out of character, chances are you're not going to build a particularly savory reputation. There are also a few other major no-no's when it comes to role-playing:
-Controlling other player characters in any way, shape, or form is definitely frowned upon. A player has created their character for a reason; to play it. So please, attempt to relate only what your own character is doing--leave another player's actions to that player. As an example:
---
(Assuming the player in question is Billy Bob Joe, and the player they are interacting with is George.)
INCORRECT: Billy Bob Joe draws his sword, stabbing his blade deep into Tyrant's chest. George dies.
CORRECT: Billy Bob Joe draws his sword, attempting to stab his blade in the direction of Tyrant's chest.
---
-Be realistic or back up what you do through logic, science, or some other way. Your character is (most likely but doesn'y have to be) mortal, and as such has mortal weaknesses. It's extremely unlikely that they can dodge a thousand bullets(Try a shield of some sort, assuming your character has a shield or can bring one up through magic) and fell a thousand men in the period of one post(without a powerful, wide radius attack). Keep in mind you are in a post- medival age too. Not only that, but please maintain the mood you set for your character in the initial introduction. Sudden uncharacteristic changes of personality make for a very awkward and convoluted storyline.
INCORRECT: fred jumps in the air and falls down on the ground using his super-super-saiyan attack pwr level #59949949 and pwning all the evil monkey ninjas
CORRECT: fred jumps in the air and falls down on the ground then uses his "kai duos-twin explosion" magic ATK and pwning all the evil monkey ninjas. Fred loses 4 magic pts.
-Make sure to add adequete detail to your posts. We don't just want to know that you killed a man, we also want to know how.
-Please, be literate. If you're misspelling every other word and sounding like a complete imbecile, chances are you're not going to be very well receieved. In fact, the general community might want you removed post-haste.
There is one more major area to cover in the fundamentals of role-playing: the initial introduction of a character. Generally, a character sheet is first posted, following something like this style:
Name-
Age-
Appearance-(Height, Weight, Hair Color, Beauty...whatever strikes your fancy)[optional]
Initial Type:Read the news on thehome page for the types
Equipment/Weapons-(Whatever it is your character carries--specify as necessary for original inventions)
Bio-(A short [or long] history of your character. Try not to reveal too much, as the best role-plays are those that flesh out a character on the fly.)
---
Let's try a practice character sheet based on the skeleton I just posted:
Name-Billy Bob Joe Bob Joe Bob Billy Joe Bob Billy Bob Joe Billy Billy Bob
Age-23
Appearance-Billy Bob Joe stands an impressive six feet tall and weighs about 160 pounds. His deep brown hair and blazing blue eyes make him a sight to behold.
Inital type: Warrior
Equipment/Weapons- Billy Bob Joe's attire usually consists of rumpled blue jeans and a plain black t-shirt, tucked in. He is most often seen sporting a particularly stylish pair of sunglasses, and wearing a sombrero of the finest quality.
The only notable bit of equipment Billy Bob Joe possesses are his katanas, sheathed visibly at his side. When drawn, it is clearly evident that the blade is of a highly superior make, of something approaching damascus steel.
Bio-Billy Bob Joe led a fairly normal life until the age of 17, when he came home from school to find his family slain by rabid monkey ninjas. Taking up in hand the sword that had been used to slaughter his family, he swore vengeance to the world.
---
Note that character sheets can be modified and expanded upon almost indefinitely. It's entirely left up to the whim of the thread creator as to how much detail he or she wants in this initial introduction.
Now that we have a character sheet complete with suitable backstory, let's try creating a starter thread:
---
Billy Bob Joe stood idly on the thickly-wooded hillside overlooking the compound, gazing intently at the structure that confronted him. He was now at the end of his trials and tribulations--whatever awaited him within that building was what he had worked towards the past six years of his life.
He had finally discovered the headquarters of the rabid monkey ninjas.
Even now Billy Bob Joe could hear their crazed hooting, their squealing and hollering as they went about whatever daily affairs a rabid monkey ninja actually did. They would soon be in for quite a surprise.
Placing one hand carefully on the handle of his katana, he smiled the fiery smile of one that has long abandoned all notions of fear and caution. Tilting his fine sombrero to one side, he began to stride downhill, towards his intended target. With each step he was faced with painful memories, with lingering doubts. He did not let this stop him.
Finally, after all of these years. He would avenge his mother, his father, his older brother...even Little Susie, the neighbor's child who was unfortunate enough to have been searching Fred's home for a cup of sugar when the rabid monkey ninjas had struck.
But enough of that. Now was the time for action.
---
That's crazily dramatic, but it gets the point across. The purpose of this thread is obviously to storm the rabid monkey ninja headquarters--there isn't a particularly deep plot to speak of. The players are going to fight and then go home, feeling satisfied. While this thread doesn't give any obvious openings for new players, anyone wanting to join the storyline could simply insert themselves by already being present in the fortress, by approaching from another direction, or even by stalking Billy Bob Joe.
The 1st part of this manual was derived (not an exact copy of, but enough to teach peoplehow to post correctly) from "The Compilation of ToP" Anything beyond this point pertains only to One Man Empire.

Types of characters:
Warrior: Direct combat speciaist, Bad at Indirect combat, No magic
Paladin: Indirect combay speciaist, Bad at Direct combat, No magic
Rouge: Stealth specialist, Mediocre at Both Direct and Indirect combat, No Magic, Capable of Detecting other player's performing stealth if at an equal or higher level
Defender: Defense specialist, Mediocre at Both Direct and Indirect combat, No magic
Hunter: Owns Pets that Fight with him, 1 pet per level can be controlled (though you can own more than your level#, you can only control the # of your level), Mediocre at Both Direct and Indirect combat, No Magic
Inventor: Finds items or buys them and puts them together, Mediocre at both direct or Indirect Combat (unless they use a weapon they invented, No Magic, Only Ones capable of using Guns (and only those they invent themselves or one just like it) or making machines. Inventors can Fuse Elements to make types of Metals, Chemicals, Gems, Gases, & Many Other Things as well. Inventors can also start off with one of their own inventions (try to start small, because whatever you build will be put on your list, so if you get a bazooka you won't have ammo to use because you used your one item to get the bazooka and you don't have bazooka ammo on your list)
A Inventor's listshould look like this:
material1+material2+(other materials)=invention1
Wizard: Casts Black(Offensive) magic by speaking/chanting, Poor at Direct Combat(except in staff and wand combat) and Indirect Combat, Level#*5=#of magic pts(points)
Druid: Casts White(Defensive) magic by speaking/chanting, Poor at Direct Combat(except in staff and wand combat) and Indirect Combat, Level#*5=#of magic pts(points)
Cleric: Casts Red(Tactical) magic by speaking/chanting, Poor at Direct Combat(except in staff and wand combat) and Indirect Combat, Level#*5=#of magic pts(points)
Sorceror: Casts limied magic like superpowers with no energy required to put them up, Mediocre at Direct Combat and Indirect combat, Level#*3=#of magic pts(points)

The rules are simple:
You must start with one type, but you can multi-class.
To earn a new type, you must use this fomula:
2 to the(#of types[except your initial type, but counting the one you add])power=# of exp. pts
2 exp. pts, 4 for the second, 8 for the next, ect.
To level up any type you already have, you must follow a similar formula:
2 to the(#of next level)power
2 exp. pts, 4 for the second, 8 for the next, ect.
At the beginning of each week(game) Tyrant is on the throne. Player's try to defeat him in battle. Whoever defeats him takes the throne. They also instantly level up any type they already have. Now, everybody is trying to kill them. At the end of the game, whoever is on the throne, you win.
If someone tries to fight(duel) you, and you do not respond in 1 day, you imediatly forfeit and they can auto-hit you.
If you are killed, you are out of the game, but you can join in the next game.
